Here’s some romance advice for you. In theory there’s an infinite number of ways to add a little romance to your relationship or create a fantastically romantic date with your partner. You just need to know the principles and you can create as many of your own ideas as you want.
Or, if you aren’t feeling particularly creative you can always surf around for some tried and tested ideas that other’s have used. I’ll give you a few resources later on where you can find ideas on the web.
Romance Advice Pointers
Romance is a heart warming combination of thoughtfulness, surprise, and making your partner feel special. If you’re creating a romantic event, then environment is important too.
You can use these 4 principles to create as many romantic gestures, dates or gifts as you want. All it needs is a little forethought and time to do it, and frankly, that’s where most of us fall down. We just don’t take the time in our busy, busy lives to think about creating romance in our relationships.
Take the time to plan ahead. As unromantic as it sounds, get a bit of paper and write down some ideas that will
- demonstrate your thoughtfulness
- surprise your partner
- make them feel special
- be set in a nice environment (if appropriate).
Thoughtfulness
Romantic gestures don’t need to be big to work. What’s more important is that you do something you know, or at least suspect, your partner will love.
If you know your partner is stressed at work currently then planning something to help them relax and take their mind of it is thoughtful.
Surprise
It’s an obvious principle really, but the less someone is expecting your romantic gesture, the more they will enjoy it. So if at all possible, keep your ideas secret until the last minute.
Never underestimate the value of contrast, if you can somehow convince them that the event you planned is really lame, or that you haven’t planned anything at all, you can score bonus points.
Make Your Partner Feel Special
If your partner phoned to say they’re on their way home and they’re starving, then taking them to McDonalds fulfils the first 2 principles – but I think you’ll agree it falls at the third hurdle!
Where could you take them that’s special? Their favourite restaurant? A new French cafe that’s just opened round the corner? A picnic overlooking a river?
A Nice Environment
Not all displays of romance involve locations. The simple note snuck into their bag before they leave for work that says ‘I love you’ works because of the first 3 principles. But when your romantic event does involve location, ensure it’s a nice environment.
The example above about going to McDonalds fails as much because the environment isn’t extraordinary as it does for its lack of making your partner feel special.
Planning your romantic gesture
So now you know the principles of creating a romantic event you have unlimited potential to do so. Get that piece of paper and generate some ideas following the above principles.
If you’re really stuck for ideas, have a look at the following website. They’re a good way to get your own creative juices flowing about what you could do for your partner that will add to the romance of your relationship.
