Let me start by saying I’m sorry your relationship is in such turmoil you’re looking for couples counselling.
Let’s be clear, you are not here for fun or entertainment, you’re here because you’re in trouble. Your relationship, which used to be the most amazingly pleasurable part of your life, has become a place of deep pain.
My name is Michael Myerscough and I specialise in intensive treatment for marriages and relationships in crisis. I work with people in serious relationships with serious problems. If any of the points below apply to you or your relationship then you can relax – I have a solution for you.
Do you wish you and your partner could stop fighting?
Do you fear your relationship is on the brink of divorce?
Is controlling behaviour an issue in your relationship?
Has your relationship undergone change that has been hard to manage recently. Things like the birth of a child, relocation, loss of work or illness?
Are you frustrated with the lack of passion between you?
Is constant criticism an issue in your relationship?
Are you and your partner trying to recover from an affair?
Are you worried you’re wasting time in a relationship that will never go anywhere?
Are you looking for couples counselling?
Pulling Marriages Back From The Brink
Many of the clients I see are seeking to simply improve their relationship due to having got stuck in some kind of power struggle and that’s work I’m happy to do. It saddens me that most couples wait until they’ve done serious damage before getting relationship counselling. However a significant amount of the people I meet are couples where traditional couples counselling just hasn’t worked or they’ve resisted getting help for way too long. I prioritise the couples that find themselves at a point where separation or divorce is beginning to seem inevitable. I pull marriages back from the brink. Please don’t take my word for it, have a look at the success stories, the model I’m trained in works.
The majority of the couples I work with have often seen two or more marriage counsellor over the years and still find themselves unable to halt the steady slide toward separation or getting a divorce. As a result they are now ready to invest in the kind of intensive sessions I offer in order to avoid the excruciating pain of loss and divorce. They’re also hoping to steer clear of the disastrous financial implications of separating. I hope you don’t think I’m over stating that. Let’s face it running two homes on the same level of income and paying for a couple of lawyers is nothing less than an economic disaster for most of us.
The good news is that with the help of systems based couples therapy you really can get back to the relationship you deserve and desire. Imagine how much better that would feel than the pain of heartbreak and fear you are stuck in right now.
Intensive Couples Counselling
Usually I work in 2 hour intensive blocks with a couple although it’s not unusual for people to elect to have a day long intervention as a way of getting started in couples counselling. Think about it, do you really hope to get any serious work done within the ‘therapeutic hour’ some couples therapy services will offer you? If you want to know more about this take a look at the Services Offered.
Working in this way grants you the luxury of an in depth grasp of what you are ‘really’ dealing with in your relationship in the shortest time possible. More importantly we then have time to immediately address the quickest way to stop your relationship problems. I’m trained in a systems based relationship counselling model which means I’m able to tell you exactly what’s going wrong within your first two hours of couples counselling. Doesn’t that sound like a pretty good proposition?
Using this approach I have seen relationships make it all the way back from death’s door to loving couple. I’ve been doing this long enough now to be assured of the direction you need to be moving in and how to get you there. As I said earlier please don’t take my word for it, take a look at the things my clients have said about how this model saved their relationship.
Don’t Make This Painful Mistake
Half of all marriages that end do so in the first 7 years, and the statistics for your second marriage are actually worse. Most couples wait around 6 years before seeking couples counselling for their relationship problems which means they’ve been living in misery far too long. Your marriage doesn’t have to die! You do not have to continue to lie awake at night in that state of pain, dissatisfaction and loneliness. The sad fact is that it’s often only when the divorce papers have been signed, the contents of your home split and you’re sitting alone in your new place that reality sinks in. Only then will you realise the depth of what you gave up on when you gave up on each other.
You can read more about how to avoid making a major mistake when it comes to relationship problems and saving your relationship here. If you’d like to know the specifics of the couples counselling I offer then please take a look at the ‘How I Work’ page.
